Founded in 1991 as Blue Ocean Software, the company grew quickly to gain worldwide presence as the makers of Track-It!, the most widely installed help desk and asset management solution in the world. By 2002 the company had become a wholly owned subsidiary of Intuit umbrella.

In December of 2005, TA Associates, one of the world’s largest and most experienced private equity firms, purchased Intuit IT Solutions in a $200 million buyout, and renamed the company Numara™ Software. With offices in Boston, Menlo Park and London, TA Associates manages over $6 billion in capital.

The genesis of the new company comes from “Numara” meaning “new ocean” which simultaneously captures our respect for our heritage (Blue Ocean Software) and our confidence in the future. Shortly after launching as an independent entity, Numara™ Software acquired UniPress Software and its leading mid-market service desk line, FootPrints. In the market for over 10 years, FootPrints is 100% web-based, ITIL-compatible service desk software for help desk and support automation which has been implemented at more than 2,400 organizations worldwide.
